Eventbrite, la start-up made in France qui
Eventbrite a levé, jeudi 13 mars, 50 millions de dollars. Cette start-up, créée par un Français, emploie 200 personnes et est évaluée à plus d'un milliard de dollars.
Depuis hier, jeudi 13 mars, son entreprise fait partie du club très fermé des start-up évaluées à plus d'un milliard de dollars. Renaud Visage est pourtant inconnu en France. Eventbrite, sa start-up a levé hier 50 millions de dollars. L'an dernier, elle en avait déjà levé 60 millions.
Ce Français a créé ce service de billetterie en ligne en 2006 dans la Silicon Valley. Il était dans les tout premiers rangs lors du discours de François Hollande à la Silicon Valley le mois dernier. A San Francisco, Renaud Visage est connu et courtisé. Evenbrite, sa start-up, fait partie des 5 meilleures entreprises de la baie, selon les employés.
2 milliards de dollars de vente de billets encaissés
Eventbrite, c'est une plateforme en ligne où n'importe qui peut planifier un événement et gérer la billetterie. A l'origine, Renaud Visage était l'architecte du site. Cet ingénieur de Centrale est arrivé en Californie en 2000. En pleine bulle internet, il participe alors à la création d'un site de partage de photos.
En un an, le nombre d'employés passe de 30 à 120 puis retombe à 10. L'expérience sert de leçon au Français. Quand par hasard, un couple de Californiens lui propose de monter un site de vente de tickets sur le web, Renaud Visage reste prudent. Aucune levée de fonds pendant 2 ans, aucun des 3 collaborateurs ne se verse de salaire.
Aujourd'hui Eventbrite, ce sont 200 salariés et 2 milliards de dollars de vente de billets encaissés. La société recrute même les salariés de Google, s'étend en Argentine et en Europe.

TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN ALGERIA

With the knowledge that tourism has the potential to contribute significantly on an ongoing basis to the economy of Algeria, authorities place emphasis on the development of the country’s infrastructure and tourism facilities.
Rising oil prices have had a positive effect on the growth of Algeria’s economy, and it is anticipated that this will result in significant returns in the hospitality and tourism sectors, as well as influencing residential development. A growing population that is dominated by youth, strong government support of development, and rising numbers of tourists, are viewed as supporting factors for economic growth.</P.
Algerian tourism has the goal of attracting 3 million tourists by 2013. To ensure that this large number of tourists are given a warm welcome, authorities have been encouraging investments in the development of hotels, as well as improving roads and transportation. The Public Works Authority of Algeria has earmarked $8.2 billion for large public works projects, including the upgrading of the East-West Highway and numerous secondary roadways.
A recent study by the Accor group revealed that there is a need for at least 36 mid-market hotels to accommodate the number of tourists that are expected to visit Algeria. Already many foreign hotel groups, such as Marriott International, are entering the Algerian market and there is room for more foreign investors to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the country.
In addition to the development of tourism, Algerian authorities have plans in place to meet the growing demand for commercial and residential properties. The National Housing Program aims to complete the construction of one million low and middle income housing units by the end of 2009, with ongoing plans to build approximately 130,000 housing units each following year.
According to World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) – a specialized agency of the United Nations that serves as a global forum for tourism-related issues – Algeria has stepped up their total travel and tourism operating expenditure. It is anticipated that, by the year 2017, 1.1 percent of total government spending in Algeria will be devoted to the development of tourism. This is good news for Algerians for whom increased tourism translates into new job opportunities, as well as for tourists who decide to make Algeria their holiday destination.

But if you take your time, ignore the quick and easy television appeals, and find a reputable, high-performing charity that will make the most of your donation, then you can maximize the amount that actually gets to charity and minimizes your risk of an IRS audit.
- Find a Charity that Directly Accepts Car Donations
If at all possible, avoid the for-profit intermediary organizations that advertise so pervasively to handle your car donations. By finding a charity that handles the transaction themselves, you can ensure that 100% of the profits remain at the charity. It's possible that the charities you already support have a car-donation program that you don't know about. Check with them first. If not, do a little research, and find a high-performing charity that does the kind of work you like, in the region you wish to target, and does that work well.
- Make Sure Your Intended Organization is a 501 (c) (3)
While many organizations can claim non-profit status, donations to 501 (c) (4) organizations are generally not tax-deductible. These are political organizations with permission to lobby our government; like Disabled American Veterans or the National Rifle Association. Make sure your intended recipient has 501 (c) (3) public charity status.
- Transfer the Car Correctly to the Charity
Some charities will ask you to leave the assignment of ownership space on the charity donation papers blank, so they don't have to re-title the auto. If your charity asks this of you, find another charity. If you don't formally sign your car over to the designated nonprofit, you will be held responsible for any parking tickets that are subsequently incurred, or liable if it's used in a crime. Remember, the charity you give the car to will probably not use your car to deliver meals to the needy, but will simply sell it as quickly as possible. When someone buys it from them at auction and doesn't bother to register that car, it's still yours in the eyes of the law.
- Use Fair Market Value (FMV) for the Car
There are several exceptions which allow you to use the Kelley Blue Book or a NADA guide, but you must use the FMV, not simply the highest value listed for the year and make of your car. Use the FMV when:
- instead of selling the vehicle, the charity keeps and uses it,
- the charity makes improvements to the car before selling it,
- your car is sold at a discounted price to a person with a low income,
- or if the car is worth less than $500.
Otherwise, you can only deduct the amount that the charity sells the car for at auction as indicated on the written receipt the charity sends you.
